Show shortcode in excerpt for homepage posts block

We are trying to have a audio play button appear on homepage posts that have audio. This would allow people to listen to audio stories without having to click through to the main story page in order to listen.

We would like to have either the ability to have a shortcode for an audio player placed in the custom expcerpt field show up in the homepage post excerpt area or have a custom field that we could paste in the shortcode and have the audio player appear in the homepage post blocks as well.

We can allow shortcodes to appear in the standard worppress excerpt, but when using custom blocks, like Newspack's, they do not show up.
