Current User experience for VS2022 extension is not great. We need to collect user feedback, our own experience feedback and prepare an action plan on how to improve it. When preparing for this work, below is some useful feedback to take into account from a review of the extension.

"This extension is awesome, but when you launch the application the cluster connection experience could be improved with a more detailed window with steps that are being taken before the start of the debug session instead of a generic infinite progress bar (maybe kubectl commands, for example)."

Other things that come mind:

  • easier accessibility of the configuration menu

Would also be great to have multiple configurations that are accessible via launchSettings.json
