Explain SAVE as PREVIEWED #502
Comments
What you consider backwards is what most people consider the normal way for it to be captured. We plan to replace these 2 toggles with a unified mirror toggle for the preview, image capture and video capture: |
It's not a problem but rather is the way most people want them to be saved. CameraX mirrors the preview by default but not image/video capture so we added the toggles. They added support for not doing it for the preview later and we haven't added a toggle for it yet. It makes sense to merge all 3 into 1 toggle after adding preview support. |
I always thought people consider backwards lettering as normal because they have no clue on how to mess with settings to make things right or they are too lazy. I get upset at people making product reviews and I'm trying to read the bottle label and I can't, or their shirt logos is distracting me because it's reverse. As a photographer, yeah, these are annoying things that make me OCD prone. But thanks. I like my privacy but, might have to sacrifice the camera part if I have to and see what the Pixel Camera will offer on Graphene that I can work with, otherwise I'll carry my Samsung Ultra with me that I had bought a few years back mostly for the camera. |
There will be an expanded toggle covering the preview soon. Most camera apps do what our camera app is doing by default and often don't have a way to turn it off. |
So the Camera for Graphene OS v77 has these options for images and videos:
Save image as previewed
Save output image as visible on preview (fixes inversion in front of camera)
Save video as previewed
Save output video as visible on preview (fixes inversion in front of camera)
Problem is that on a Pixel 9 PRO, if I leave these options on, the image is not only a mirror (backwards) image preview, but it also saves that way. When I transfer it to my PC, the preview is upside down. If I turn these off, the preview is still backwards, but at least the saved image is correct. I can read the labels or the writing on the shirts.
Also they save upside down.
This is for the selfie mode.
So is this a Pixel 9 Pro problem or a CAMERA problem?
Thanks for your time and consideration.
