I like the current home screen icon, but it stands out among other adaptive icons with a materials theme, so I'd like this app to adapt to the materials theme as well.

While I won't say I'd never modify the icon (I dislike the current home screen icon - it was made final out of desperation), I think your goal would be better achieved by using whatever similar icon from your favorite custom icon pack (I do that all the time), because
There's no longer any app icon guidelines for Material 3 (other than this one telling you how to place things inside the adaptive container). Yes, the M2 guidelines still exist, but that doesn't quite apply to the new adaptive icon format, and aren't used anymore by Google or Android.
There's no de facto consensus on how icons should look like. If you look at the most popular apps on Google Play right now, you'll see all kinds of designs getting thrown around - flat shapes, gradients, shadows, outlines, even 3D.
I'm open to edit suggestions if you got any, but I'm not planning to redesign the icon in the near future, nor am I accepting complete designs (for legal and other concerns).
