useQuery() is getting called infinitely

Hey can some one help me with this?
I have a useQuery with the key 'user_list'. I am calling this query in both the parent and child components. Both the parent and child components are consuming the isLoading state from the same useQuery. However, when the query fails, for example, when receiving a 401 status code from the backend, even though the retry option is set to false, the same query is being called infinitely. Am I doing something wrong? I understand that a change in the isLoading state will trigger a state change in both components, but when retry is set to false, why is the API being called infinitely?
