One of the more popular requests for Academic Pages has been support for themes (#137), to include a dark theme (#1031) or being able to toggle between dark and light theme modes (#911)... this work is now in progress on a feature branch for those that want to start experimenting with it.
The
/_sass/_themes.scss
file contains all of the theme settings and currently the only updates have been to the various colors. Short term the plan is to migrate the remainder of the major theme settings over (e.g., fonts, font sizes, etc.) over so that they can be changed in one place and applied properly throughout the site. So initially while the work is being done on a feature branch, there may not be any obvious changes to those that use the branch. Next update will be the work on supporting a toggle to a dark theme, which should also open up some some more options for additional toggle options. As part of this effort, the files in
_sass
will be cleaned up a bit and consolidated, so I would recommend avoiding changes to those on your own sites if you are planning on making changes to them. Now that the feature branch is up I'm hoping to get this featured merged into the main branch sooner rather than later as well, and this will be a big enough change that there will be a versioned release.Beta Was this translation helpful?
