Ruff's formatter is opinionated and we plan on having more opinionated presets/categories that simplify configuration. I don't see us going as far as disallowing configuration altogether or restrict it in significant ways compared today. However, your team could say we use Ruff's standard categories and that's it. However, we're not there yet but you can track #1774. |

I'm such a python noob right now that I'm not sure this is possible, but I'm wondering what folks think about supporting a Ruff equivalent of https://standardjs.com: nonconfigurable, unchangeable linting. I've use standardjs on projects before, and it's worked well; we just tell those that have an opinion, "Yeah? Well, we're using standardjs and that's the end of the discussion." No one really argues about it in practice.
So, is it possible to have Ruff be an opinionated, configurationless linter? Are there already Ruff-based standardjs-like linter-formatters out there?
