Potentially all other it would takes some work as an internal scheduler would be required, it would also cost more to operate since the container would be up all the time but only performing useful work infrequently.

Well, it doesn't have to be long running, we run ssosync as a Kubernetes CronJob, so Kubernetes schedules it every hour and runs ssosync. So we have a simple container image that we create ourselves.
