It uses dots to indicate the current position. Of course, Dynamic Menu is vertical, just like every other Garmin watch menu.

As the VA does not support up and down swipes, users of Dynamic Menu are forced to tap above or below the center item to scroll, which may be an unfamiliar gesture to them.
