When there's a rocket attack, the app may play multiple sound notifications (for each configured area of interest).
That's fine and obviously correct behavior.
But when I'm at a safe place, I'd want to silence them ASAP.
Particularly - when I'm with my sleeping children in the safe room..

Suggestion -
Pressing "I'm safe" would silence notifications for 10 minutes.

Improvement -

  • Swiping any of the notifications would act the same.
  • have an action button on the popup notification
  • have an action button on the notifications to silence it..

TBD - Should 10 minutes be configurable? I don't think..

And of course - thanks for the great app! Much appreciated.

Hi @ofirnk,
Thanks for your suggestion.

The issue with satisfying this request is that sometimes there are multiple red-color alerts for the same city/town within a single 10 minute period because of multiple rockets being fired towards the area.

In this case, it is obviously important that the user receive and hear multiple alerts.

I think the issue you're facing with receiving irrelevant alerts while already in the safe zone stems from the fact you have selected places to be alerted about under the primary city/region selection which are not actually where you and your family are staying.

The solution I recommend in this case is to only select your own city/village under primary alert area selection, and then enable "Secondary Alerts" in the Advanced Settings to be alerted for other areas of interest, with "Silent" selected as the secondary sound.

That way, you will only actually receive an audible alarm when the red-color threat is in your actual location.

Please let me know if this makes sense, and if I may clarify it any further.

Thank you for the reply.
I live in the corner of 3-4 alert zones.
Also, I travel back and forth between few alert zones so it makes the "usually relevant" alert zones for me a total of 5.

Indeed, I could pick the one that I care the most, but it's a roll dice.

I think the suggestion that I offer would also handle the case where I'm already in the safe room, and wouldnt want the app to play sounds for a while. Notifications would still show.

I think the silencing sounds should be behind a configuration - opt in. And/or, it could be in a clear action button that says "silence for 10 minutes".
