Use this integration in automation

Hi there,

I'm willing to set the water tank at "off" or "heatpump" depending on another sensor using an automation.

Whenever I'm in the automation menu, I choose the triggers, then select the water heater, but it asks me the new value for the operating mode

In your integration, there is three modes for the water heater :

• Heat pump
• Boost
• Off

(in french "pompe à chaleur" - "performance" and - "Eteint")

What should I write in the automation menu ?

Ok so !

I managed to stop it with the conditions.

Whenever I try to start the water tank, I use the following

triggers:
  - trigger: time
    at: "14:45:00"
conditions:
  - condition: state
    entity_id: sensor.rte_tempo_prochaine_couleur
    state: Rouge
actions:
  - action: water_heater.set_operation_mode
    metadata: {}
    data:
      operation_mode: "heat_pump"
    target:

mode: single

This way, it correctly changes the operating mode from "off", to "heat_pump" and sets the desired temp to 53, but whenever the triggers happens the water heater doesn't start to heat the water even if this one is at 41° and target temp @53 as seen in the YAML

I think this has something to do with the water heater functionning only with integrated scheduler, don't you think ? Like, I I plan the comfort mode at 2PM with 55° then empty the tank 1 hour later, the water tank won't heat until the next day 2PM
It might be interferring with the YAML I try to do ? Have you ever encountered this problem ?

First, there is no guarantee that the water_heater starts heating when you raise the setpoint, I have seen cases where it takes some time, it is an intelligent device. Having a schedule set within the device will always conflict with controlling it through HA, at the moment the schedule is active you can't control it completely from outside. I would recommend to wait some time to see when the water heater starts heating when you raise the setpoint. I think only when you set it to performance it will start heating pretty soon.

Yep performances will start pretty immediately but using mainly the convector inside the tank instead of the real heatpump witch isn't good because it consumes way more energy.

I just found a new feature on the watertank in installer profil you can set the tank with three profiles (seen as Heatup mode in your integration)

reheat
schedule
reheatSchedule

• Reheat tries to go on the desired temp all the time so the setpoint with HA seems to work here
• reheatSchedule seems to work also since it waits the first trigger between the inside scheduler and the hysteresis betwen setpoint and water temp
• schedule doesn't work since it just wait for the "comfort" or "eco" trigger from the inside scheduler.

I'll try to finetune this and keep you tuned

Do you think you can controle the Heatup mode from the integration ?

I see the events whenever I switch it from Schedule to reheatSchedule

The heatup mode is read only, we can only read it, not set it (check the raw data provided by Daikin, download it under the daikin_onecta integration as diagnostics).
