Quick Move Folder caueses Thunderbird to crash #195
Comments
Hmm this will be hard to debug, I hope we can find the root cause. How proficient are you with a debugger? I think the best way to do this would be to comment out portions of the source code and see when it starts looping. My guess is that there is some sort of recursion occurring in the code to collect the folders. If you downgrade to 2.9.2, does it work again? |
I am not very proficient with a debugger, but was able to install 2.9.2. It does not cause Tbird to crash; however, sometimes the dropdown window is blank - so I have to wait a bit and then try later. It's a bit hit and miss, as it's not reliable. But eventually, the dropdown window will show previous folders filed to, and I can also enter a new location. This was how it was before I upgraded to the latest version. It hadn't always been this way; it had been reliable, but for some reason it's now more hit and miss.
I appreciate all you do to create/support this Add-on. And thanks for the tip to install the older version. At least now I can file my emails. Many thanks!
Best regards,
David

Hi, Philip,
I wanted you to know that today when I opened up Thunderbird, the Add-on had automatically updated to 3.00 (I had omitted to deactivate the automatic update feature), and the Add-on is now working fine. I'm not sure why it's working now, and why it didn't when it automatically updated to 3.00 last time.
I'll let you know if anything changes.
Thanks very much.
Best regards,
David

Can you try the version I posted here? #194 (comment) |
Quick Move Folder automatically updated to 3.0 in Thunderbird 128.5.2esr (64-bit).
Now, every time I try to use Quick Move Folder it causes Thunderbird to lock up, and I need to restart Thunderbird.
Any suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.
