i love the app.
i would like to contribute.
( i need to research the rates at various methods)

which method gets you the most money after fees and exchange rates? ( i assume its not google)
the key requires the internet to validate correct? ( wish there was an offline method)
how often does the key need to validate itself? ( once a month, week? year? only once an install?)
what info is sent to check the validation? ( phone model? other identifiers?)
is the key linked to a restricted number of devices? ( can i have it on my mobile phone, tablet, and house phone ( which is also mobile but has no friends so stays home) ( yes i am far too paranoid to share it)
if restricted, any issues with device updates/replacements?
does the key expire?

i did look for answers, but did not find them.. maybe my google-fu is bad.

  • If you use the app from Play Store, in-app purchases processed by Google are the only option
  • If you use the app from F-Droid:
    • If you live within the EU (SEPA region), requesting an invoice and paying per bank transfer bypasses fees from intermediaries
    • becoming a Github sponsor, also allows me to collect your contribution without fees.
  • If you want to contribute to the longevity of the project, you can also support the project beyond purchasing a licence key: https://www.myexpenses.mobi/de/#participate

the key requires the internet to validate correct? ( wish there was an offline method)

Yes, offline methods would be easy to reverse-engineer and bypass.

how often does the key need to validate itself? ( once a month, week? year? only once an install?)

once on activation of the key

what info is sent to check the validation? ( phone model? other identifiers?)

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.Secure#ANDROID_ID

is the key linked to a restricted number of devices? ( can i have it on my mobile phone, tablet, and house phone ( which is also mobile but has no friends so stays home) ( yes i am far too paranoid to share it)

the key is limited to 5 concurrent devices. It can be unlinked from a device at any time.

if restricted, any issues with device updates/replacements? does the key expire?

The Contrib and Extended licences do not-expire. The Professional Key is sold as (monthly/annual) subscription. But all features can also be purchased individually as packages, that won't expire.

if i contribute via github i then have to email you at [[email protected]]
to get a key?
and what information do you need to verify i contributed? ( i expect there is some transaction number on the receipt)
i assume if i pay over 13 euros i get a contrib key and over 16 euros i get a extended key ?
or is it by contributing on git hub you only get the contrib key no matter how much?

what is the method to unlink a key ( as i do flash roms every now and then so i expect i will hit the limit in a year)?

do you have a link to the cost of purchasing features individually?
( i expect i would only need "scan receipt" other then the basic or extended key)
( is there a limit on templates? maybe that also if less then 10)

do the extended key still give you goggle drive access if you install from google drive ? ( not that i would ever use it personally )( i assume the functionality is missing from the github and fdroid downloads)

Exactly.

Since there is a low volume of cases, at the moment, I trust people claiming they contributed.

As described on the Sponsors page, 13 $ entitles to Contrib Key, 16 $ to Extended Key.

what is the method to unlink a key ( as i do flash roms every now and then so i expect i will hit the limit in a year)?

On the Contribute section of the Settings, there is a button for removing the licence.

do you have a link to the cost of purchasing features individually? ( i expect i would only need "scan receipt" other then the basic or extended key)

If bought from within the app, they are sold for 4.9 € each (+ VAT if applicable).

( is there a limit on templates? maybe that also if less then 10)

Templates for normal transactions and transfers are unlimited, There is a limit of 1 split template.

do the extended key still give you goggle drive access if you install from google drive ? ( not that i would ever use it personally )( i assume the functionality is missing from the github and fdroid downloads)

Right, Google Drive functionality is only available on the Play Store version, for which you'd need to buy licenses via in-app purchase, as mentioned.

i will be honest i clicked everywhere on this site, and i have not seen the sponsors page... did they hide it?
did not find it on your web site either. ( i might have asked less questions LOL)
i was thinking that buying on google still gave you a key to use, but it uses the google api...
i assume that if you buy it on google then you cannot ask you for a key, since google takes a big chunk

the contrib amounts above are euros € and not US dollars $ ( i used the word euro and you used $) correct?
( hiting sponsor (under "sponsor this project") on git hub ( has a diffrent page) and has euros but the sponsor page (from your site) has $ i assume us)

i think that is my last question thanks for your time and the app.

( found the sponsors page from your page... still have not found its match on github)

it is nice you have different options.. and i dont have to give my personal info to github....( MS bought them)
i will likely use the direct link under "sponsor this page" to paypal.

I was referring to https://github.com/sponsors/mtotschnig, I thought that you were familiar with it, because you were mentioning the prices from there.

Buying on Google, licences are handled via the Play Store billing library, I do not need to send out keys.

Prices on Github sponsors are in $, prices for purchases via Paypal, that the app links to are in €
