Changing priority to "don't download" is not working when the file was already downloaded and deleted and force recheck was used #22203

qBittorrent & operating system versions

qBittorrent: 5.0.3 x64 Operating system: Windows 10 Pro x64 (22H2)

What is the problem?

I am downloading a whole serie with directories for each season. The size of the whole torrent is too big, so I am downloading season by season. After I complete watching given season, I am removing it. When qBittorrent finishes downloading a part of the whole torrent, it marks it as finished, so when I want to download next season, I am ticking the checkbox next to the folder name and I have to use "force recheck" on the torrent. After recheck completes qBittorrent starts downloading the season that I already watched, even tho I set the priority of it to "don't download" and priority of first episode in new season to maximum (the first episode of new season isn't being downloaded at all).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Download part of the torrent
  2. Remove file from disk
  3. Select other part of the torrent to download
  4. Select force recheck so torrent will start downloading
  5. problem starts because the first part is being downloaded instead of the new part

To fix that qBittorrent is downloading content I don't want, I need to set priority to normal or higher for it, and the set priority to "don't download" again and then I can remove files that were already created again from my disk

The correct course of action in your case:

  1. Download part of the torrent
  2. Select another part of the torrent to download
  3. Stop the torrent
  4. Set “don't download” for the first part
  5. Close the client
  6. Delete files of the first part
  7. Start the client
  8. Perform recheck
  9. Continue downloading
