Missing resources #4

IIRC Faery is probably the 1% chance fairy encounter, might be hard to find that. This page lists the "Castle Guards" as using the exact same image as the Soldier Unrelated to those two: I didn't see Alexander Dumas in the "Faces" folder, is the Dragon Guard stuff in this repo? (video warning: terribly loud techno music) https://youtu.be/Mv-KDQeLJ10?t=164 |
The source code is related to version 1.2 (c) 2000 and video seems related to a more recent version somewhere in 2006. But if faeries was added in 2002, it looks like it is the case, looks like it will be pretty difficult to investigate versions. Update: the missing faery image is related to a quest, named |
I'll do some more forum digging and see if I can find anything related to that quest. Specifically I'm rummaging around old DC Clan Forums:
and whatever else I can find linked from those sources. Update: Ah okay, reading the code further,

I found the Fairy image in a youtube video: https://youtu.be/yYQaImi6UKQ?t=352. I'm not really confident in finding the actual image, and I know this source isn't the most high quality, but perhaps cutting the image from a still frame in the video could suffice for now? (Yes, I did jump for joy in my chair a little bit. What a wild trip down memory lane, finding this random encounter in a 14 year old youtube video. It may be the only recording of that image left to us - I pasted it in to Google's reverse image search and TinEye, and neither returned a higher quality source for the Faery) Pasted a poorly cropped version of the image below for posterity. |
@murlock not completely relevant to this PR, but I have had something interesting happen: just got a Silver drop, which according to the clanskyriders site, shouldn't have been available until 2002. Perhaps this source code is later than 2000? Also very possible the website was just incorrect Screenshot below because hey, bragging rights, probably the first Silver drop in Dragon Court in literally a decade 😂 |
what are you doing to get it to run? |
@shaner9er @letsgotothedrivein Interesting, may be if someone managed to retrieve a recent JAR, we could upgrade this repository |
I did find a screenshot of a faery from a cached angelfire site: https://web.archive.org/web/20190804193413im_/http://www.angelfire.com/games3/clanskyriders/testversion/dockfaery.jpg Source site: https://web.archive.org/web/20020223145857/http://www.angelfire.com/games3/clanskyriders/ I honestly can't tell if the resolution gets any better than these screenshots! haha. |
got it java 11 was my missing component! and after opening this up that image will work just fine you'll notice after it scaled down to the proper resolution that it looks perfect. as for the guard let me mess with this some (( from looking into this its the one thats supposed to have the castle wall and be on the draw bridge if we cant find it we can probably make something.)) if not that one i have a vague recollection of what its supposed to be and we can maybe create something. |
Ted got back with me and sent me a few screenshots they didn't look helpful yet obviously he created these almost 30 years ago but said he would check some drives and get back with me. |
There are two missing images:
I've checked on web.archive.org without success (but I failed also to retrieve other images 🥲)
