If trying to log in as a non-staff member while staff member login option is on, you will not receive any info message/visual feedback/error because the messages are displayed as a type of popup which can only be seen while logged in. There is a different type of login form error which can be displayed on the login page as seen below.

Display a similar message while trying to log in as a non-staff member.
