Nice idea! How do you think it should work for touch devices such as smartphones? I suppose that for smartphones it's required to support touch gestures, i.e. standard clicks. In this case for large screens (desktop PC) the popup will work as follow:
appears on hover, and automatically hides without mouse focus
appears on click, and hides on click
So, the behavior depends on how the user triggers the popup. Please, share your ideas if the logic should be different.
Hi, yes, that sounds like a good approach :-) And a setting that enables
you to set the mode. If you want it to show on hover or if you always
require a click.

Show popup when mouse hovers icon. Now users need to click it.
