[Feature Request]Markdown Formatting Support?

Would it be possible to add markdown formatting buttons when adding a new md file?

I see the UI already detects when the extension is ".md" as it adds the Preview button, would be great if Markdown formatting could also be added to the UI (similar to Github's issue edior etc, see the image below).
