I'm just about to switch to opensearch-py and opensearch-dsl, since I rely on elasticmock for my testing, I will probably have to fork this, but I wanted to check if there were any plans to support the AWS flavor of elasticsearch here.

I don't see an easy way for this library to support both opensearch-py and elasticsearch-py, so I've created a fork, which I'll publish to pypi shortly. Too bad AWS and Elasticsearch couldn't get along.
