In order to gain a better understanding of how computational chemistry functions and what types of questions it answers, this lab calculates the energy of the boron atom using different basis sets and levels of theory. The students will see the patterns that emerge from the usage of basis sets as well as computational methods such as Hartree-Fock (HF/SCF), MP2/MP4, and CCSD/CCSD(T). Electron affinities and spin states are also discussed. \\
