Upgrade ‐ Overview

As with any program, there may be a need to update the code for stability, bug fixes, or general upgrades. When a new version is released, you will see notes in the header next to the current version and in the Notifications area:

Additionally, the program will also check for updates at regular intervals that you can control in the Automation area of MTM:

By default, it is set to be 'On', run every 24 hours, and run at the time it was created. You can modify and control all of these settings, however a check will still be run when the program starts up no matter what.

Further, you can run a check at any time in the the same location:

Do note that you will not see anything there, but will see the other indicators as highlighted above.

This way, you'll get an email whenever a new version is released, plus you can see exactly what has changed.

No matter the method, you can easily upgrade using the directions below. The key item to consider is that during an upgrade, the program_files directory is protected.

This is the most important directory as it contains all the settings, bookmarks, logs, backups, and other crucial information. As a best-practice, you may want to make a manual backup of this folder in case anything goes wrong during an upgrade. With this directory, even a fresh install can be restored with your details.
