There is an initiative to standardize ROS interfaces for simulations, including things like spawning and manipulating entities, pausing, resetting and stepping through the simulation. Gazebo and O3DE leads are already involved, and it would be great to have other ROS-integrated projects such as MuJoCo take a look.
