Edwards S150B Gold Sputter Coater Instruction Manual
This section is for discussing the gold remodelling technique. Currently, we use water or styrene vapour, which provide different speckle sizes.
Current Remodelling Parameters that have proved successful on Zirconium alloys
- 3 minutes sputter coating at 40mA using Edwards sputter coater
- 2-4 days remodelling at 175C
- Speckle size produce can be used at Horizontal Field Widths of 10-20um at a resolution of 2048 x 1768 pixels
- Unable to do EBSD through gold pattern (at 20kV on the CamScan)
Current Remodelling Parameters that have proved successful on Magnesium alloys
- 2 minutes sputter coating at 40mA using Edwards sputter coater
- 2 weeks remodelling at 150C
- Speckle size produce can be used at Horizontal Field Widths of 15um at a resolution of 2048 x 1768 pixels
Current Remodelling Parameters that have proved successful on various Titanium alloys
- 5 minutes sputter coating at 40mA using Edwards sputter coater
- 3-4 hours remodelling at 305C
- Speckle size produce can be used at Horizontal Field Widths of 37.6um at a resolution of 2048 x 1768 pixels
- Able to do EBSD through gold pattern at 30 kV on Q650, but requires long dwell times so compromise on spatial resolution
